OLYMPICS. Norway has hosted the Olympics twice, once in Oslo in 1952 and once in Lillehammer in 1994.
There has been much (sometimes heated) discussion about hosting the Olympics in Norway again, but to date no bids from Norwegian cities have been submitted.
(Image source: Wikipedia)Below is a video overview of the Lillehammer Winter Olympics in 1994. Watch at least the first six minutes of the video to view the highlights of the opening ceremony. The rest of the video shows clips from several of the events, including speed skating, cross-country skiing, and alpine skiing. The Norwegian athletes performed spectacularly well in Lillehammer, so the highlights are fun to watch. Note that the video can only be watched on YouTube, so click on the video below and then again on the words “Watch on YouTube” in the middle of the video.
