    RELATIONSHIP DESCRIPTION. Write a description of a couple whom you know well, for example, your parents, your grandparents, you and your significant other, friends, etc. Write 15-20 sentences.

    • Pre-Writing: Look back at your the chapter and review the words for relationships. Make a brief outline for two paragraphs:
      • their names and ages
        how long they have been together as a boyfriend / girlfriend, domestic partners, partners, or married
        description of each person (school / job, interests, appearance, and personality)
      • when they met and how
        who took the initiative
        what they liked about one another then and now
        how they get along
    • First Draft: Write a rough draft of your essay, but focus more on content than on grammatical correctness.
    • Editing: Read your draft and check the items listed below.
      • Organization: Does each paragraph have a main topic? Are the sentences within each paragraph related to each other
      • Cohesion and Style: Have you connected some of the sentences by using conjunctions such as og (and), men (but), fordi (because), and som (who, which)? Have you varied your sentence structure by starting some sentences with adverbials?
    • Spelling and Grammar
      • Check the possessives and the reflexive possessives.
        ex.) Anders er veldig glad i kona si.
      • Check the verb forms (present tense and infinitive).
        ex.) De liker å være ute i naturen.
      • Check the past tense verb forms
        ex.) De møttes på en kafé.
    • Second draft: Rewrite your description now and make the changes you worked on during the editing process. Submit to your instructor.
