    PEISEN.  Many Norwegians enjoy having a peis (fireplace) in their homes and sitting in front of a warm fire.  Recent statistics report that over 2.5 million residences in Norway have a fireplace.  Review some of the recent grammar points while learning more about peis.          

      1. (many) norske hus har peis, men det er (some) norske hus som ikke har peis.
      2. Dessuten er det mange nordmenn som har peis på hytta og (at home).
      3. Nordmenn brenner (much / a lot) ved i peisen.
      4. Det er koselig å sitte (inside) foran peisen (while) det snør eller regner ute.  Dette kaller man for peiskos.
      5. (Because) mange nordmenn er glad i peiskos, lagde NRK et TV program om det.
      6. Peisen står i (the corner). Det står to lys (above) peisen. (Under) peisen ligger det ekstra ved.
